DSL prices drop even more

2.06.2006 | Link to this post

SBC Yahoo! DSL has dropped to a new low - $12.99 per month. The competition between cable and DSL providers is pushing costs down for everyone. I got in on SBC DSL almost a year ago for $14.99 per month. The service has been reliable and fast, and believe it or not, the customer service has been wonderful. There are a couple of caveats to these low DSL prices. One, you have to have home phone service that's starts at $10 per month. Two, the pricing is good for one year and then rises to $29.99 after that. Even with the $10 phone service, the cost of DSL is cheaper than most cable. If anything, there is absolutely no reason to stay on a dialup connection with these prices.

You are right. I still know of people who actually think they are saving money by using dial up. Sure People PC charges $4.95 a month, Netzero 9.95 with their misleading Hi Speed 3G (only compresses your browsing experience- dial up could only go 56kps no faster), Earthlink 12.95 for 6 months, and aol $25.90- try canceling AOL which recently settled a lawsuit about their cancellation tactics. ATT DSL is a great offer at real DSL speeds. Just remember dial up users- you can only surf up to 56kps- don't think just cause it says high speed, or reads acceleration or optimization- what that means its compressed web page- you still surfing at speeds about 52kps- stop being the slowskys... upgrade.
